“Law is a tool. Justice is its purpose. A law school that teaches the rule and forgets the reason produces technicians, not guardians.”

At Nyaya Pathshala

Shashank founded Nyaya Pathshala in 2026 on a simple conviction: justice must be taught before law, and the people who most need to know their rights are the ones least likely to find them explained. He leads the project and its editorial board, sets the standard every guide must meet (plain words, current law, checked citations), and personally writes and reviews the guides on criminal procedure, arrest, bail and the Constitution. He also runs the Guest Column, which publishes students, teachers and advocates, and the Campus Ambassador programme that takes legal awareness from law schools into communities.

Profile

Shashank Shekhar is an Assistant Professor of Law at Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida, where since July 2023 he has taught the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Constitutional Law to B.A. LL.B. students and the History and Principles of Criminal Law to LL.M. students. In 2024 he served as a Legislative Fellow at the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research, Ministry of Law and Justice, where he worked on the drafting team of the Arbitration Bill, 2024, and designed an online course on plain-language drafting for legislative officers, hosted on the Government of India's Karmayogi portal. He has trained police investigation officers, public prosecutors, advocates and NGO workers on India's new criminal laws, and judges national and university moot court competitions. He writes regularly on courts, rights and the Constitution for publications including Scroll.in, The Diplomat and Telangana Today. He holds an LL.M. from National Law University, Delhi, and a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Jamia Millia Islamia, where he ranked fourth in his batch, has qualified UGC-NET twice, and is pursuing a Ph.D. at Jamia Millia Islamia.
