As Associate Editor, Shivani brings four years of legal editing to Nyaya Pathshala. She looks after our guides on consumer rights, contracts and money, online shopping, media and free speech, intellectual property and digital rights, and the environment and animal welfare. She also keeps our style consistent, so that every guide, whoever writes it, reads in the same clear and careful voice, and she works with Guest Column writers to shape their drafts for publication.

Shivani Chauhan is an Assistant Professor of Law at Lloyd Law College, Greater Noida, where she has taught contract law, tort law and media law since December 2022. Earlier she taught Intellectual Property Rights, arbitration and contract law at City Group of Colleges. In 2024 she was a Fellow at the Institute of Legislative Drafting and Research, Ministry of Law and Justice, where she researched, drafted and amended laws. From 2020 to 2024 she was Contributing Editor at Legal-Wires, writing case comments and study notes and guiding other writers. She holds a B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow, and an LL.M. in Business Law from Amity University, where she was the gold medallist; her dissertation examined pharmaceutical patenting and the right to health in India. She is UGC-NET qualified, and her current research interests include animal law, intellectual property and media law.
